About Matzapich

Built to tell the truth.
Nothing else.

Matzapich started with a simple frustration – too much noise, not enough truth. We were journalists who kept asking the same question: why is it so hard to find news that actually explains things? So in 2026 we decided to build it ourselves.

Our Story

We started with a question

Why does so much news feel like noise? Endless takes, instant reactions, stories optimized for clicks rather than clarity. We asked that question in early 2026 — and then decided to do something about it.

Matzapich was built from the ground up as an independent outlet. No corporate parent, no political sponsor, no agenda beyond the truth. We cover politics, business, technology, and culture with the depth and fairness that readers deserve.

The name comes from a word meaning “the light that arrives just before dawn” — the moment of clarity right before the noise of the day begins. That is exactly what we want to be for our readers every morning.

What We Stand For

Independence

We have no owners to please, no advertisers with editorial influence, and no political affiliation. Our journalism is guided by facts and the public interest — nothing else.

Accountability

We hold power to account — in government, in business, and in culture. We correct our mistakes openly and quickly. We publish corrections in full, without burying them.

Depth

We believe in taking the time to understand a story fully before telling it. We would rather publish one thorough report than ten shallow ones. Quality over volume, every time.

Fairness

We present all sides of a story with equal rigor. We distinguish clearly between news and opinion. We treat every subject — powerful or not — with the same standards of evidence.

Transparency

We tell you who we are, how we are funded, and how we make editorial decisions. If we have a conflict of interest, we disclose it. We believe journalism should operate in full view.

Clarity

We write for intelligent adults who want to understand the world, not be flattered or frightened. We cut jargon. We explain context. We respect our readers' time and intelligence.
